When the girls were Highland Dancing I took a keen interest in the history of each dance and two of the dances they learned were directly related to the Jacobite rebellion and the aftermath of the loss at Culloden. The girls even wore Culloden kilts when they competed in Scotland in 2022. So I've wanted to learn more and see where this important day in history actually happened. There is a wonderful centre with loads of information about the battle but the highlight for me was our guide Lucian who made the history come to life as we walked on the field where the Highlanders made their last stand. It was incredibly moving and no trip to the Highlands would be complete without a stop at Culloden.
