Hi! It’s Anna with my first blog post! My 3 favourite things about travelling are seeing the architecture, learning about the history, and making videos, especially of Hayden!
So, the first thing that I love about travelling is seeing the architecture. Today we got to go on a hop on, hop off bus tour of Bath, and believe me, it was gorgeous. Every time I see medieval, or Georgian, or any other type of old architecture, it takes my breath away. The way that almost everything in England is older than Canada astounds me and I can’t wrap my head around it, so that’s really a plus. Even just the beauty of things, the intricate designs carved into stone, of all things. It’s the same when I see silk on statues. Someone carved that. And it looks so good, and it all has so much history.
The second thing I love about travelling is learning about the history of things. In cities like Bath, or the Peak District, so many things have so much history. We went to an Abbey that had history in the 600s! I can barely imagine anything at all going back that far! Most buildings have at least 150 years of history, all out in one little place. You can learn so much. I also enjoy learning about Jane Austen, who was a great writer female writer when there weren’t many. It’s so interesting to hear about her story, and the stories of so many other interesting people, but it’s even more fun to learn about the lives of their servants. They usually have the most interesting stories of catering to families, especially rich ones. There’s just too much to unpack in all those years! It’s just so fun to learn about, and make videos on.
The third thing that I love the most about travelling is making videos. The average full-length video takes me around 5 hours without breaks, so around 7-9 in a day because I need to eat. So it’s tiring, but really fun because I get to call the shots. It’s Evi’s job to make the reels, so I usually don’t have to, but it’s my job to make Hayden’s reels. I love using stop motion to make him walk, or sending him on a train, or having him get dressed (with a bit of a helping hand!) Even though making videos is a type of school work, it’s still really fun. I first started making videos last year after our cruise to Alaska, and I had a great time. I currently use IMovie for the full videos, and CapCut for the shorts. I hope to move on to a better editing software for the videos, like Canva, but I’m still learning! However I still have a great time every time.
That’s the end of my essayish thing. Thank you for reading it all and so, you get a cookie🍪(I can’t give it to you through the screen, so go get yourself one) those were the three things I love the most about travelling after 1 month and ten days away from home! I hope you come back to read more.
