Thoughts on one month on the road

We left our home on August 5th and today we have been on the road for one month. We have faced challenges and opportunities equally and tried to make the best of each day. We've also taken some days off and stayed home (wherever that might be) to relax, catch up on planning and laundry and enjoy each other. We've spoken to a family member almost every day and sent dozens of photos home for them to enjoy. We've created videos and reels to document our special outings. We've been pretty terribly bloggers but we'll get there I'm sure with practice. I have broken up dozens of sister fights. At school they were used to spending time apart and being back together all day every day can be a lot. And having no reprieve for myself has been hard sometimes - doing all the cooking, cleaning, planning and driving is hard enough at home but on the road it is much harder. We've seen the most magnificent places - 2 days in New York, 7 days crossing the Atlantic, 7 days in Edinburgh, 10 days in the Scottish Highlands and more...we have seen a lot but at a pace that isn't burning us out of travel. I'm looking forward to leaving the countryside on Tuesday for some city adventures in England in a couple of days and then we're moving on to our next country on September 20th. I've definitely increased my fitness level with all of the walking and hiking we've done. And I'm not far off the budget for each place that I had planned. I'm trying to balance very fun activities with fiscal responsibilities but I'm also aware this is a once in a lifetime opportunity so I need to choose memories over budget. Just not everyday! Today was Evi's favourite day and it didn't cost anything (well lunch I guess) as we were hiking and rock climbing. I'm proud of what we've done so far and look forward to new adventures on Tuesday next week. The pace of travel will pick up for a month or so and then we're leisurely exploring Italy in October/November before meeting up with Aunty Rhonda in Paris. So lots to blog about and more videos to come!
